Sorry to say but Solar Rebates in Arizona have been reduced by the Arizona Public Service Company!
APS in trying to meet their quota for the use of solar energy in the state at one time offered $1.00/watt. While I was on the waiting list for my system they dropped it to .75. Just my luck, my rebate was reduced almost $2,500! At the end of the year I was surprised to see that I also had to pay taxes on the rebate because the IRS considered it income…
Currently APS offers up to .10/watt for grid tied photo voltaic systems. It’s still a rebate and if electricity is your need, the solar panels available right now are very efficient. Will the rebate ever be increased in the near future? Probably not anytime soon. If you want to know more and actually talk to someone, give APS a call. Their customer service representatives are actually quite helpful!
But if heating and cooling is your biggest concern, there’s still hope if you want to get an efficient system into your home and have APS and the Feds provide you a decent rebate. Try going geothermal!
Currently APS offers .45/watt for geothermal installations!
So if paying for heating and cooling is your greatest concern, a Geothermal system may be what you’re looking for.

Remember the rebates change as APS meet their quotas. There are some catches on the Geothermal Rebate however, in order to qualify you must be replacing a gas heater in your home.
