Even though this is a video of a documentary Movie made over a year ago its still AWESOME!
This has to be one of the most spectacular displays of nature ever recorded! It is also one of those phenomena that a climate change believer can’t help but pass along.
Background of the Environmental Documentary Chasing Ice:
On May 28, 2008, Adam LeWinter and Director Jeff Orlowski filmed a historic breakup at the Ilulissat Glacier in Western Greenland. The calving event lasted for 75 minutes and the glacier retreated a full mile across a calving face three miles wide. The height of the ice is about 3,000 feet, 300-400 feet above water and the rest below water.
Chasing Ice won the award for Excellence in Cinematography at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, and has won over 30 awards.
Commentary:
This event is undoubtedly a precursor of things to come. It has taken four years for this movie to be made and the Utube version to be seen all around the world. I hope people are realizing that Climate Change is real and happening faster than most climate scientists had predicted. We must understand the effects climate change is having on the world, on our lives and the cost our government will have to bear to repair disaster related damages.
